In 1995 Venus, Serena, and their father, Richard Williams, conducted a clinic with the California Tennis Association for Underprivileged Youths. The clinic has grown into a year-round tutoring / tennis academy. California Tennis Association for Underprivileged Youths The California Tennis Association for Underprivileged Youths (CTAUY) was formed in 1970 by brothers Fred and Richard Williams. The organization's founding principle is to provide tennis lessons to inner-city youths in hopes that these children would earn tennis scholarship to college. The Association is a non-profit organization under IRS code 501 (c) (3). The CTAUY started as a free program on summer weekends in Watts, CA with Fred and Richard teaching children of all ages. As the program grew, the organization needed a facility that would allow them to not only train their students, but also provide an environment for tutoring and mentoring. In 1975, the organization moved its training ground to its current location, Arthur Ashe Tennis Center. Since its inception, CTAUY has been commended for bringing tennis to underprivileged youths by:

| For over three decades, CTAUY has produced top-ranked junior players in Southern California. Many of the students have gone to receive multiple tennis and academic scholarships from The University of Arizona, Morehouse College, Grambling University, UNLV, U.S. Santa Barbara, U.C. Irvine, Howard University, and Clark Atlanta University just to name a few. Today, over 40 children are enrolled in the after school and weekend programs of the CTAUY. | ||||||
